Krista has been riding longer than she's been walking, and began teaching her horses at an early age as well.

Her training methods have developed over the years and are a blend of natural horsemanship techniques from the masters such as Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt, including contemporary trainers Clinton Anderson and Pat Parelli (Level ll graduate). She's come to understand the cowboy way and the use of the ranch horse and mule from Tom Panell, an Arkansas mule skinner and Tracy Langley who breeds and trains Driftwood ranch horses out of Payette, Idaho. She's worked with Steve Koehn and Billy Martin (cutting horses) in California and has reached clear back to the training of Dennis Magner from the 1800's in her search for the best deal for the horse. She's learned from Warrick Schiller, a reiner from Australia and Hanza Blaha who trains circus horses in Czechoslovakia. She's lately been studying classical dressage techniques with Manolo Menendez, as trainer for Coyote Springs Ranch in Gilroy, California.

Krista excels in preparing a horse for use by a rider in the disciplines that most suit both the rider's desires and the horse's conformation and natural talents. Success through communication and fair handling are foundations of a philosophy that includes a firm belief in cross training to create a using animal with a sound mind and body.

Krista teaches to the principal that the basics are the same for both English and Western horses during the first 90 days. These formative times always focus on free movement and mental control first. Krista is always searching for alternative methods to make performance easier for the horse and to insure that every training session ends on the most positive note for all.
